Who is Flourish for?

Flourish is tailored for early-career scholars who are ready to build a sustainable writing practice that not only drives meaningful progress toward their goals this semester but also lays the foundation for long-term career success.

  • “I’m so glad that I took the leap and signed up for the first running of Flourish. The ten modules go well beyond basic time management strategies to build our resilience as writers. We didn’t just learn how to plan our writing projects but how to integrate them into our lives. Flourish’s mix of live group coaching and on-demand videos was focused, practical, and worked well with my schedule. This was the best investment I could have made in my academic career and I can’t recommend Flourish highly enough to other scholars.”

    Diana Bolsinger, PhD

Assistant Professor, The University of Texas at El Paso

  • "I’m so happy I found this course. It felt like a gift! In academia, we’re often left to figure things out on our own, but Flourish offered structure, support, and strategies I could actually use. The topics like the project tree and weekly goal-setting helped me move my paper forward in ways I hadn’t in a long time, even when I only had a few hours. It also shifted how I think about writing. I stopped chasing perfection and started understanding feedback and rejection in a whole new way. That was mind-blowing for me."

    Tala Ocampo, PhD

Assistant Professor, University of the Philippines

  • “Flourish helped me put names to processes I’d been stumbling through for years. I finally understood why academic writing felt so confusing. The tools and structures Flourish introduced gave me a lot of clarity. Now, instead of finding myself trapped in chaotic and ineffective loops, I now know how to approach my writing with strategy and purpose.”

    Violeta Camarasa

PhD Candidate, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

  • "Flourish offers a structured form of community support that is immensely valuable for early career scholars. Whether you’re at a “publish-or-perish” institution or a teaching college, Jenn and the other members of your cohort will provide compassionate and informed guidance on managing your writing that is attentive to the specificities of your context. I especially appreciated how Jenn not only recognizes the ways current events can impact our capacity to show up for our research and writing, but also models through the curriculum how one might determine a sustainable path forward–not just as an academic, but as a whole person."

    Erin Yanota, PhD

Assistant Professor, University of Virginia’s College at Wise

  • "I wish I had Flourish when I started as a graduate student. I never had anyone help me this way through my M.A., Ph.D., and tenure achievements. The information is fundamental! It inspired me to find or create a community to help others as well as myself."

In the Momentum Track, we’ll meet weekly over 10 weeks, alternating between group coaching and co-working sessions.

  • Group coaching happens six times during the course to review goals, discuss assignments, and troubleshoot challenges together. These sessions provide clarity, support, and actionable next steps to keep you on track.

Once you register for the course, you’ll receive a short availability survey so we can find a weekly meeting time that works for your small group. That way, meetings fit into your schedule—and you’ll meet consistently with the same supportive group each week.

FAQs

A Personal Note from Jenn

I created this course because I know exactly how it feels to be where you are.

Early in my career, I often struggled to understand how the system worked, to manage what felt like an endless mountain of tasks, and to find any sense of balance between my academic life and my personal well-being. It was overwhelming, isolating, and, at times, exhausting. But I also know that change is possible.

Over time, I learned how to work smarter, not harder. I developed writing habits and strategies that helped me manage my workload more effectively, making consistent progress on my projects. These practices carried into a successful research career as a professor at an R1 university, where I learned how to sustain productivity without compromising my values.

You feel the same pressures I once faced—the constant demand to do more, often without the support you deserve.

Academia’s capitalistic, individualistic structures can make it easy to feel like you’re constantly behind or that you have to handle everything on your own.

That’s why I created Flourish—a space where your humanity comes first.

This course is designed to give you the tools and support to create positive momentum in your own writing. It offers practical strategies, expert guidance, and a supportive community, all tailored to help you navigate your unique challenges as a scholar. While I can’t guarantee specific outcomes, I truly believe that if you engage fully with the course, you’ll see meaningful progress and start building habits that serve you well beyond these 10 weeks.

The results you want—a sustainable writing practice and a full life—take effort and commitment, but you already have what it takes. Taking this step can feel like a leap, but consider this: what’s the bigger risk—staying stuck and overwhelmed or giving yourself the opportunity to try a new approach?

Investing in yourself isn’t just about this course; it’s about laying the foundation for a more sustainable and fulfilling way of working. You don’t have to figure this out alone, and you don’t have to keep feeling like you’re falling behind. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Join me in Flourish, and let’s take this step together. Your work—and your well-being—matter.
